777 vel Prolegomena Symbolica Ad Systemam Sceptico-Mysticae Viae Explicandae, Fundamentum Hieroglyphicum Sanctissimorum Scientiae Summae [Seven Seven Seven ].

NP [ San Francisco ]: Level Press, ND [ 1971 ]. First Edition Thus. Softcover. Small octavo. [8 x 5 inches] xxviii + 156pp + (viii)pp. Pale blue/grey wrappers with printed title etc. to spine and angled title lettered in black across front wrapper beneath printed portrait of Crowley. An extremely unusual variant of the Level Press/Brock "777" which includes a b&w portrait of Crowley on the upper front cover. Despite being Crowley specialists and having literally handled hundreds of copies of various editions of "777" we have never seen one thus before. As with the other Level press issues the text is based on the Yorke/Germer edition of 1955. Oddly one group of fourteen pages also seem to be printed on a different (darker) paper stock to the rest, but this may just be a quirk of the printers. From the collection of Clive Harper with his discrete book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Covers a bit darkened & lightly creased and worn from ordinary use, faint light brown mark (tea splash?) to rear cover, spine browned, edges a bit chafed, Still a tight, unmarked near VG copy of an extremely uncommon edition.
