Item #68375 Herald of Coming Good. First Appeal to Contemporary Humanity. G. I. GURDJIEFF, Georges Ivanovich Gurdjieff, From the David Tibet collection.

Herald of Coming Good. First Appeal to Contemporary Humanity.

New York: Samuel Weiser Inc., 1971. Reprint. Softcover. Octavo. 88pp. The first US edition of the first book published by G. I. Gurdjieff, having been privately published in Paris in 1933. The book is a semi-facsimile of that edition, and was published with the help of Charles Stanley Nott a now well known student of Gurdjieff. This copy from the library of British artist, writer and musician DAVID TIBET (founder of the music group Current 93) with his OWNERSHIP SIGNATURE and blind-stamp seal on a small piece of hand-made paper tipped in at the front. The book starts at the title page (p.5) - so it is probably missing a half-title page and a blank at the front - although the odd pagination could just be a quirk of the reprinting. Light shelf wear, a bit of light chafing to cover edges and points, page edge a little darkened, pages lightly toned but clean and unmarked. Sold as is. Item #68375
