The History of British Magick after Crowley: Kenneth Grant, Amado Crowley, Chaos Magic, Satanism, Lovecraft, The Left Hand Path, Blasphemy and Magical Morality.

NP: Hidden Publishing, 2007. First Edition. Softcover. Large octavo. 436pp. + 4pp. ads. preface, table of contents, bibliography and index. This copy from the library of British artist, writer and musician DAVID TIBET (founder of the music group Current 93) with his OWNERSHIP SIGNATURE on the first blank (the text includes a brief quote from an Interview with David Tibet). From the cover: "Both a professional academic researcher and practising magician, Dr Dave Evans delves deeply into modern British history to present a serious, but accessible and fascinating work, based on his recent and unique PhD, on developments in British magic after Aleister Crowley died." A somewhat patchy but still interesting contribution to the subject. The work is redrafted from Evan's PhD, which is evident in things like the rather laboured discussion of the value of emic over etic approaches to research. Sadly Evans (b.1962) - who also published "Aleister Crowley and the 20th Century Synthesis of Magick", and various essays, and was co-founder of the "Journal for the Academic Study of Magic" - succumbed to illness in 2013. Covers are lightly rubbed, Atlantis bookshop label on inside front cover. Very light rubbing to covers and chafing and bruising to edges, heavy crease on rear cover at lower corner. Overall a tight, unmarked VG+ copy of this scarce volume with an interesting association. Item #68389
