The Scrutinies of Simon Iff.

Chicago, IL: Teitan Press, Inc., 1987. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Small octavo. xviii + 182 pp. Maroon cloth with white title, etc. to spine, blind stamped question mark (?) on upper board, b&w frontisportrait. "This series of six short stories features the mystic, magician and man of the world Simon Iff, a master detective who solves mysteries of human misdeeds by his intimate knowledge of human psychology." There seems little doubt that Iff was, in part at least, an idealised self-portrait of Crowley. This copy from the library of British artist, writer and musician DAVID TIBET (founder of the music group Current 93) with his OWNERSHIP SIGNATURE on the verso of the half title page as well as: "David Hall's copy" in his writing on the same page. The book had thus earlier belonged to his friend, David Hall (1942-2007), author of "Beelzebub and the Beast" and numerous shorter works, and editor and publisher of popular 1970s magazine "Sothis" . Loosely inserted is one small page of Hall's handwritten notes on the book. Thus while previously owned and read - it appears unused but for some light foxing to upper and fore page edges. A tight, clean near Fine copy in mylar protected unclipped near Fine dust jacket. Item #68428
