Item #68451 Jhonn Balance. 16 February 1962 - 13 November 2004. David TIBET, From the David Tibet collection.

Jhonn Balance. 16 February 1962 - 13 November 2004.

(Hastings): (Privately Printed), (2004). First Edition - Limited. Booklet: a single sheet of blue card, folded once to give four 9 3/4 x 6 inch pages, the first of which serves as the front cover / title-page. An elegantly produced tribute by David Tibet to his friend Jhonn Balance. The second page has David Tibet's poem "Goodbye to Jhonn", the third his poem "Moonbird for Jhonn" (written for and read by Tibet at Balance's funeral), and the fourth page has the limitation statement and a few short printed notes. These explain that the booklet was printed for David Tibet, by Alan Anderson, and that only eleven numbered copies were issued, each being placed in the artist's edition of the boxed set "How He Loved The Moon." This example of the booklet is one of a tiny number of un-issued reserve copies that were printed in case of a misprinting or damage to the actual eleven. Instead of a limitation number it has "(Archive Copy)" in David Tibet's handwriting, and is SIGNED by him at the bottom of the page. Musician, artist, and poet Jhonn Balance (1962–2004), was a long term friend of Tibet's sharing many interests, including a passion for outsider art, and of course they played music together a number of times in David's "Current 93", "Nurse with Wound" etc. A fine copy of a genuinely rare work.
