Item #68486 Cosmic People. No. 1. DADAJI -, Shri Dadaji Gurudev Mahendranath, Aleister Crowley related works, From the David Tibet collection.

Cosmic People. No. 1.

New York, NY: Smasana Publishing, ND (1982). First Edition. Softcover booklet. Octavo. 48pp; Blue staple-bound card covers, lettered and illustrated in black on both covers. The first issue of this unusual periodical devoted to the work of Dadaji: Shri Paramahamsha Mahendranath (born Lawrence Amos Miles: 1911-1991), an Englishman who is said to have had a youthful acquaintance with Aleister Crowley and who in later life embraced Indic religion and Tantrism becoming a guru of the northern Indian Uttarakaula Tantric Order. This issue is largely taken up with two essays by Dadaji, "The Yoga-Vidya of Immortality. The Story of the Adi-Nathas" and "The Pathless Path to Immortality. The Wisdom of the Bhagavan Dattareya," although it also includes several shorter pieces, and a reprinting of Crowley's "Liber Oz."
This copy from the library of British artist, writer and musician DAVID TIBET (founder of the music group Current 93) with his contemporary OWNERSHIP SIGNATURE "Pavo Kapilanath" on the inside front cover: ([Frater] "Pavo" was his magical name as as a member of the Typhonian OTO and [Sri] Kapilanath his name as a member of AMOOKOS). Dadaji's teachings fused traditional eastern Tantric with Western magical techniques and went on to form the basis for the Arcane Magical Order of the Knights of Shambhala (AMOOKOS), an occult order founded in 1982 by Michael Magee (Lokanath Maharaj) which gave training to a number of now well-known figures before succumbing to the seemingly inevitable divisions that plague such groups. Presumably the print-run was small as copies are seldom seen. "Fanzine" type production values. Generally "well read" with a slightly larger than a thumb-print-sized discolored patch (old damp exposure) to the upper margins, otherwise a clean, G+ copy. Item #68486
