Alchemical Hieroglyphics. Which Were Caused to Be Painted Upon an Arch in St. Innocents Church Yard in Paris By: Nicholas Flammel.

Gillette, NJ: Heptangle Books, 1980. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Octavo. 94pp. Quarter linen with marbled papered boards and printed paper spine label, b&w illustrations. Fold-out plate of Flammel's Fresco. A handsome letterpress edition, with rubricated title page. The English language translation by Eirenæus Orandus was originally published in 1624. A new edition, with Introduction by W. W. Westcott (of Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn fame) was published in 1889 and as far as we can determine this is essentially a reissue of that edition. A little darkening to the spine (probably reaction from the binder's glue), a little flecking to the top edge of the text block. Previous owner's name, acquisition date and place on front free endpaper. Printer's errors have transposed pages 46 and 55 - as in all copies of the Heptangle edition. Still a VG+ copy in VG+ dust jacket. Dust jacket a little darkened, more so at spine, a little rubbed, not price clipped. Now in a removeable mylar sleeve. Item #68509
