"Pomba Gira Rainha dos Infernos" A hand-painted plaster statuette or fetish object ("charged magical tool") "consecrated by Hierophant David Beth" and formerly owned and used by him. With printed explanatory text signed and sigilized by Beth.

(ca. 2011). A six-inch high hand-painted plaster statuette of "Pomba Gira Rainha dos Infernos" crowned and seated on a throne. With accompanying red cloth carrying shroud / backdrop. Also two 11 1/2 x 8 1/4 inch explanatory sheets, printed in black on thin red card, with HAND-DRAWN Ponto Riscado (a sort of spirit emblem or sigil) and SIGNED by David Beth. The text tells that the statuette is of "Pomba Gira Rainha dos Infernos" ("Maria Padilja (Rainha) dos Infernos" the Afro-Brazilian spirit who "holds a very prominent place in the rite of the most mysterious and secret lines of Quimbanda, the Quimbanda pura de Anglola" and explains her role and powers. It notes that she is a "patroness of orgiastic rites, sexual sorcery and erotic lust." It goes on "The Pomb Gira can be employed in all sorcery and magic of an infernal character and may be paired with various Exus to further empower her work. She is especialy popular with workings relating to Love, Sex and Eros." After listing various of her attributes it gives the words of her Ponto Riscado - a sort of invocatory chant or song. It ends with the words "This statue is a charged magical too. It has been consecrated by Hierophant David Beth and was part of his collection of magical/gnostic objects. It has been used in various rites of sorcery and Gnosticism. It is advised to treat this object with care and respect as it carries the living essence of the spirits. May it empower you and all your operations of the Arte." The statuette is still in the original box in which David Beth mailed it to its previous owner from Brazil (where he was then resident) in 2011. David Beth is an author, magical practitioner, and the co-owner of Theion Publishing. He is the former head of Michael Bertiaux's Voudon Gnostic orders and the founder of the Pandaemonic Current and Hierophant of its associated initiatic groups and recipient of various esoteric transmissions, including initiations of the Quimbanda pura de Anglola. There is a little light chipping to the figure - mostly confined to the base. Otherwise it is overall in VG+ condition. The accompanying texts have some deep creases from having been folded to be housed in an envelope, but are otherwise VG+ condition. Due to the unusual nature of the object additional shipping will be required to that automatically quoted, and if sold outside the US it may attract customs duty. Item #68550
