Gillette, NJ: Heptangle Books, 1983. Second Edition. Hardcove. Octavo. xxvi + 112pp. Maroon buckram with printed paper title label on spine. The second Heptangle edition of Driscoll's translation of "The Sworn Book of Honorius" (Liber Iuratus Honorii) one of the oldest and most important works of mediaeval magic. It is variously attributed to a possibly fictitious mediaeval magician, Honorius of Thebes, or to a group of magicians who set down their text pseudonymously so that their work would survive them in the event of persecution. While Driscoll's version of the text has not been without its critics, the work was pioneering both in terms of making the text available in English translation, and for the production of a grimoire as a handsomely printed "object of virtu." The First Heptangle Edition was limited to 450 numbered copies, and is quite difficult to find. The print-run of this Second Edition is not known, but it probably wasn't much larger, as it is itself quite scarce. A beautifully produced Heptangle book. Edges of text block a little darkened and flecked, otherwise a lovely tight and bright near Fine copy in VG+ mylar protected dust jacket (Dust jacket has two small faint pen marks on front panel.
