The rare first edition of this study by the great Hungarian / American psychoanalyst and anthropologist Géza Róheim (1891-1953 ) in which he records and interprets the myths of the Hungarian and Vogul (Mansi) people and examines them in the light of studies of the mythologies, totemisms and shamanism of other cultures. The text was finished shortly before Róheim's death, and published the year after. The covers are unevenly faded, particularly to the spine and lower front board, and their is a hint of rubbing to the head of the spine. Internally tight, fresh and unmarked. Overall a clean, VG + copy (no dust jacket - if issued). Item #68729
