The first edition of this major critical examination of the collection of letters which were purported to have been written by two "Mahatmas" of Tibet (whom Blavatsky had acknowledged as her teachers and the inspiration for her "Isis Unveiled" and "The Secret Doctrine") to A. P. Sinnett between the years 1880 and 1884 . Cloth a bit rubbed and darkened with a few faint marks, spine ends and upper corners bruised and lightly chafed, page edges darkened, endpapers unevenly browned, pages toned but clean and unmarked. Overall a tight, clean better than VG copy in Good example of the very scarce dust jacket. (Dust jacket unevenly darkened and discoloured, all edges chafed and well-chipped but with no significant loss, clipped. Now protected by removable mylar cover. Quite scarce, especially in the dust jacket. Item #68740
