Small octavo. 504pp. Original deep maroon cloth with gilt titling to spine, blind rules on both boards, beveled edges, appendixes, a few b&w illustrations. The author, W. J. Colville [ William Juvenal Colville ] (1862-1917) wrote a number of novels and books on health, psychology and parapsychology including: "Old and New Psychology", "Spiritual Science of Health and Healing", "Life and Power from Health Within", "The Human Aura and the Significance of Color", and "Ancient Mysteries and Modern Revelations", among others. First published in 1889, this work is comprised of twenty-two lectures delivered by Colville in various American cities, which together form a "popular treatise" on the thought and teachings of Theosophy. A bit of ordinary shelf wear, a few light marks to cloth, spine a bit faded and bruised & chipped at ends with some fraying at the cloth hinges. Page edges darkened, pages toned but clean and unmarked. Overall a tight, better than VG copy (no dust jacket). Item #68762
