As far as we can deterimine this is the first edition of this work by Raymond Buckland, a prolific author on witchcraft, who was for a time director of "The Buckland Museum of Witchcraft and Magick" (under whose auspices the book was published) and High Priest of the Long Island Coven, the first Gardnerian group in the USA. Contents include: The Bible & Witches; The Inquisition; The "Witchfinder"; Political Witchcraft; Witchcraft in Old and New England; Witchcraft- Pre-Christian Religion; The Covens; The Priesthood; Witchcraft, Magic; Ceremonies. Includes a number of pages on Aleister Crowley. A bit of ordinary shelf wear, corners - spine ends & edges bumped and chafed, page edges darkened, owner' ink stamp on front pastedown (under dust jacket flap), else a tight, clean VG copy in Good dust jacket (Dust jacket rubbed creased and chipped at all edges and extremities, chipping to upper spine, old tape repair to spine ends and rear fore-edge, rear panel creased, not clipped.
