Alchemie. Bijdrage tot de geschiedenis van de alchemistische kunst. Jacques VAN LENNEP.

Alchemie. Bijdrage tot de geschiedenis van de alchemistische kunst.

Brussels / Bruxelles: Gemeentekrediet, 1984. First Edtion. Softcover. Large quarto (11 3/4 x 8 1/4). 448pp. Glossy pictorial wrappers. Sewn. Mostly black and white and some colour plates. DUTCH LANGUAGE. A generously illustrated study of the development of alchemical iconography published to accompany the exhibition "Alchemie" run by Gemeentekrediet of Brussels in 1984/1985. The author, Jacques Lennep (Jacques van Lennep, b. 1941) is a Belgian artist and art historian specializing in alchemy, whose published works include "Art & Alchimie. Etude de l'iconographie hermétique et de ses influences." Spine lightly creased, a little shelf-wear, a few spots of foxing to the first and last leaves, a couple of bumps to the edges. A couple of pen notes on the final page, and some silly person has "highlighted" the name of Michael Maier whenever it appears in the text, perhaps two dozen times. In all other respects a solid, clean, VG copy. A large heavy volume, will require additional shipping to that automatically quoted to all destinations. Item #68929
