This superbly crafted edition is drawn from the first English language edition of 1654. Cloth lightly aged and shelfworn, some minor chafing to edges and points, bruising to spine ends and corners, uneven browning to page edges & early and later pages. Vol. I lacking front blank, pencil notes about the Editor at the lower edge of frontisportrait in Vol. I, and contemporary owner's name & date (1925) in pencil on front blank Vol. II, (all easily erased if so desired). The first few dozen leave of Volume I have been opened/cut, the remained pages in both volumes are uncut (unopened: they need to be carefully slit with a paper knife) and are thus bright, unmarked and unread. Overall a tight, mostly clean and unread VG+ set. A nearly hundred year old set that awaits a first reading. Item #69011
