York Beach, Maine USA: Samuel Weiser Inc., 1972. Limited Edition - First Weiser Publication. Hardcovers. Ten volumes. Small Quartos, (10" x 7") Vol I, Nos I - X: White decorated cloth, with Equinox coat of arms and bannerheads on front board, and gilt titles etc. on spine. Numerous colour and black and white illustrations throughout. Ten huge volumes - over 4,500 pages. Edition limited to 515 numbered sets, this being number 310. A complete set of the first Weiser edition of the ten numbers which make up the first series (or 'volume') of "The Equinox". Crowley was the editor and principal author of most of the volumes of "The Equinox," which contain a variety of poetry, fiction, and reviews - generally with esoteric themes - alongside a number of articles of occult instruction. The first "Volume" (series) of ten numbers was originally published biannually between 1909 & 1913. The release of this edition in 1972 was a milestone in occult publishing - bringing back into print for the first time in nearly sixty years one of the major works of occult scholarship - and thus making it available to a whole new audience. It includes the first publication of an especially-written Introduction by Israel Regardie. PLEASE NOTE CONDITION. The spines all Nos. are evenly yellowed. The front board of No. II is quite yellowed, Nos. I - IV have occasional markings to the boards, but are overall in VG or better condition. However, Nos. IV - X have suffered a damp exposure which has affected them considerably. Nos. V, VI, & VII are internally bright and clean, but have some some old damp stains and rather nasty brown spotting to the boards, No., VIII & IX are in similar condition but have some light tide marks to the margins of the text. Vol. X is the worst effected: the covers are quite stained/darkened and there is a moderately heavy damp mark to the lower margins of the pages, and part of the lower blank area is rubbed through and chipped in a couple of spots on two leaves where someone has obviously tried - without success - to rub away the "tide mark" . Photographs of the front covers, and the worst pages (title-page and frontis of Vol. X) are attached. Obviously not a pretty set, but it is still perferctly readable, the bindings are tight, none of the pages are stuck together, and internally the damp marking is confined to the bottom margins of the pages of the latter volumes. A good reading set, priced "as is" because of the condition. Heavy set - shipping to all destinations will be at cost. Item #69053
