Item #69114 The Drug. Aleister CROWLEY.

The Drug.

Cambridge, UK: Privately Printed (Nicholas Bishop-Culpeper), 1996. First Edition Thus. Softcover. Large octavo. 6pp. Stapled red card covers with printed paper title label on upper cover, tipped in b&w frontis. Edition limited to 93 copies, this copy being no. 5. The first separate publication of a short story by Crowley that first appeared in The Idler (magazine), in 1909. Although anonymously published, this edition is known to have been the work of English bibliophile and Aleister Crowley scholar Nicholas Bishop-Culpeper (1942-2011) who was well known for his ability to discover long forgotten Crowley pieces. This copy from the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is of course the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Just a hint of wear, else a bright clean near Fine copy. Obviously scarce. Item #69114
