The Book of the Goetia of Solomon the King; Translated into English Tongue by a Dead Hand and Adorned with Divers Other Matters Germane Delightful to the Wise

New York, NY: Magickal Childe Publishing, 1989. Facsimile edition. Hardcover. Quarto. x + 66pp (+ viii pp of adverts). Black faux leather with gilt title, etc. to spine and front cover, frontispiece. This copy was apparently a gift from well-known underground experimental filmmaker, actor, author and Thelemic magician Kenneth Anger and is boldy INSCRIBED & SIGNED on the second pre-title page "Magickal Greetings, Kenneth Anger". The book itself is a popular edition of the famous grimoire of talismanic magic, the Lemegeton of Solomon. Crowley first published his edition of the book at Boleskine in 1904, under the title 'The Book of the Goetia of Solomon the King' in printing of only 200 copies using translations which had been prepared by S. L. MacGregor Mathers, his former mentor in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. The present edition was published by Herman Slater (1938 – 1992), author, editor, publisher, witch, and proprietor of the legendary Magickal Childe Book Store of New York, under his Magickal Childe imprint. A touch of bruising and chafing to lower corners and spine ends, a small patch on the rear pastedown has a bit of abrasion from the removal of an anti-theft device. Still, a tight, unmarked VG+ copy. (no dust jacket issued). Item #69185
