Octavo in custom slipcase. 158pp. Both book and slipcase bound in fine gold cloth illustrated and titled in black, text printed in four colors. This deLuxe edition limited to 50 hand-numbered copies (apparently copies 1 - 50 of the printing, with copies 51 - 1000 making up the standard edition. Each copy of the deluxe edition is paired with a signed numbered lithographic print by Christine Ödlund: "Entrance to VRIL" (2012) which has the same number as the book - in this case "22." The print is on 300g Arches paper stock, and sized at 21cm x 29 cm. Each print has been additionally hand colored, and thus each is unique. A new edition of this novel which was originally published anonymously under the title "The Coming Race" in 1871. Edward Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Baron Lytton, (1803 – 1873) was of course deeply involved in mid-nineteenth century British occult circles, and is remembered in modern times for works like "Zanoni" and "A Strange Story." Of the text the Abrahamsson says: "A curious man descends into a mountain through a mine and experiences far more than he bargained for. Deep inside the mountain lies a completely different world. Its inhabitants, the Vril-ya, are human-like but physically superior and philosophically more advanced. They live in harmony made possible by their wisdom but also by the powerful and potentially destructive magical energy: Vril."
