Unknown to the World - Haiti.
London: Hurst and Blackett, 1939. Second Impression. Hardcover. Octavo. 288pp. Light yellow cloth with black titling to spine, map endpapers, appendix, bibliography, b&w frontis and illustrations, map endpapers. Steedman describes Haiti, it's culture and inhabitants as she witnessed it in the 1930s. Well over a third of the book - some 100 pages - is devoted to the subject of Voudou. The language and perspectives obviously reflect those of the time in which it was written, but still an interesting contemporary account. Light cloth a little worn and spot spoiled, page edges darkened, pages toned but clean and unmarked. Overall a tight, serviceable near VG copy (no dust jacket). Item #69316
