A collection of seven lectures delivered by Annie Besant (1847–1933) a prominent British socialist, Theosophist, women's rights activist. Besant was a prolific writer and powerful orator, who became the president of the Theosophical Society and produced a vast body of literature explaining and exploring Theosophical thought and belief. Lectures comprise: Impending physical changes; Growth of a world-religion; Coming of a world teacher; Social problems : self-sacrifice or revolution?; Religious problems : dogmatism or mysticism?; England and India; Emergence of a world-religion. Clearly a much read copy, with a good bit of darkening and wear to cloth particularly to spine, page edges darkened and thumbed, lacking front blank, owner's name on half title page, pages browned with some finger soil, but otherwise clean and unmarked.
