The first complete translation into English of the "Popol Vuh" (now commonly translated as the "Council Book") of the Quiché; or K'iche' Maya of Guatemala, their major text dealing with history, mythology, traditions, and cosmogony, and one of the few of their works to survive the Spanish conquest. Head of spine bumped, boards lightly rubbed at points and with a small snag to cloth a bottom edge of front board. Endpapers a little toned, previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown, otherwise a tight, clean VG+ copy in G+ dust jacket (Dust jacket price-clipped, worn and chipped at all edges, but basically intact.
