Chicago, IL: Yogi Publication Society, ND [ circa 1940s ]. Reprint. Hardcover. Small octavo. iv + 360pp + ii page adverts. Publisher's navy cloth with gilt title, etc. to spine and front cover, gilt device to upper cover. A series of 12 Lessons on the religions of the East. The titles are: The Land of the Ganges; The Inner Teachings; The Sankhya System; The Vedanta System; Patanjali's Yoga; The Minor Systems; Buddhism; Sufism; The Religions of India (Part. I); The Religions of India (Part. II); Hindu Wonder Working; The Vedas, and Glossary of Sanscrit Terms. Yogi Ramacharaka was one of the pseudonyms of William Walker Atkinson (1862 – 1932), a prolific author, attorney, occultist, and pioneer of the New Thought movement who had a penchant for writing anonymously or pseudonymously. This volume is a reprint of a work that was first published in 1909 but unfortunately the Yogi Publication Society frequently did not date their reprints. It is, however, made of much nicer material than more modern printings, so probably dates from the 1930s. Cloth a bit rubbed with some light bumps to edges, spine ends and corners, a bit of light chafing to spine ends, edges and corners. Page edges darkened, front endpapers a bit discoloured, bookplate on front pastedown, a few creased corners and tiny edge tears, but clean and unmarked. Overall a tight VG copy (no dust jacket issued). Item #69354
