A Course of Advanced Lessons in Clairvoyance and Occult Powers.

Chicago, IL: Yogi Publishing Co, ND [ Circa 1950s ]. Reprint. Hardcover. Octavo. ii + 319pp + xpp adverts. Original gilt titled blue cloth w/ gilt title, etc, to spine, and gilt device and titling to upper board, illustrated title page. It has long been thought that Swami Panchadasi was a pseudonym of William Walker Atkinson but of late there has been serious speculation that Panchadasi was actually nomd-de-plume of the esotericist and stage-magician, Claude Alexander Conlin (1880-1954). Whoever the author was, he or shecertainly had a knowledge of Western occultism, as the volume has much more in common with post-Spiritualist esoteric techniques than any Eastern traditions. Contents are: The Astral Senses; Telepathy vs. Clairvoyance; Telepathy Explained; Scientific Telepathy; Mind-Reading and Beyond; Clairvoyant Psychometry; Clairvoyant Crystal-Gazing; Clairvoyant Reverie; Simple Clairvoyance; Clairvoyance of Distant Scenes; Clairvoyance of the Past; Clairvoyance of the Future; Second-Sight; Astral-Body Travel; Strange Astral Phenomena; Psychic Influence its Laws and Principles; Personal Psychic Influence over Others; Psychic Influence at a Distance; Laws of Psychic Attraction; Psychic and Magnetic Healing. This volume has the copyright date 1916 (only) and no evidence of other printings but it is obviously a more recent reprint, perhaps dating from the 1950s. Curiously, except for the Yogi Publications Society imprint on the spine, it is devoid of all publication details, and even the advertisements at the rear (which are mostly for works by Atkinson) are devoid of publication details, price, etc. suggestin that this is in all likelyhood a a pirated edition. Cloth very lightly rubbed and a bit darkened, corners and spine ends lightly bruised, top edge foxed, front endpapers a bit discoloured, book plate on front pastedown, a few erasure marks on front blanks. Otherwise overall a tight, clean VG copy (no dust jacket issued). Item #69357
