The Lost Keys of Freemasonry, or The Secret of Hiram Abiff.

Richmond, VA: Macoy Publishing and Masonic Supply Company, Inc., 1968. Tenth Edition. Hardcover. Small format (7.5 x 5 inches) xxiv + 100pp. Original blue-green cloth with black titling to spine and upper board, b&w frontispiece and illustrations by J. Augustus Knapp. Arguably the best edition of this study written by Hall when he was barely 21 years old, and by his own account had not yet become a Mason, but had studied many books on Freemasonry and felt he saw profound connections between the Craft and the Mysteries of the ancient world and the Orient which he also explored. In 1967 - more than 40 years after the first edition was published - and he added a new Preface to this tenth edition, in which he wrote of his own advancement through Masonry in the intervening years and he circumstances in which he had written the book. In it he professes to reveal the profounder aspects of this ancient Fraternity which has been a source of inspiration to so many. Chapter headings: Chapter I - The Eternal Quest Chapter II - The Candidate Chapter III - The Entered Apprentice Chapter IV - The Fellow Craft Chapter V - The Master Mason Chapter VI - The Qualifications of a True Mason Epilogue. Cloth lightly rubbed and darkened with some spotting to fore-edge of upper board, top edge darkened and foxed, pages lightly toned - otherwise a tight clean VG+ copy. (No dust jacket). Item #69361
