Initiation Into Hermetics: A Course of Instruction in Ten Stages, Theory and Practice [ A Practice of Magic ].
Kettig über Koblenz, Germany: Osiris-Verlag, 1962. First English language edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 296pp. Original black cloth gilt-lettered on spine with gilt temple design on front board. One color plate. The first English edition of the first book by Franz Bardon (1909-1958), the Czech-born Hermeticist. 'Initiation into Hermetics' was originally published in German as 'Der Weg zum wahren Adepten' in 1956. In it Bardon takes a description of a single tarot card as the starting point for a discourse on theoretical and practical magical exercises designed to expand the occult abilities and spiritual horizons of the student. Just a bit of light shelfwear, light bump to upper spine, top and fore-edge of text block darkened/dusty and with a bit of flecking, bottom edge of text block foxed, pages lightly toned, with a couple of minor flecks, otherwise unmarked. Otherwise a tight, clean VG+ copy in VG+ dust jacket. (Dust jacket is lightly shelfworn, a bit of chafing and creasing to edges, small price sticker shadow on rear panel, not clipped. Now in protective mylar cover). The scarce first English language edition. Item #69460
