United States: J.D. 2441418 [ Heptangle ? ], 1972. First Edition. Hardcover. Small octavo. xvi+ 76pp. Original blue-gray cloth with silver title to spine and sigil on front board. Title page in red and black, numerous sigils, seals etc. in text throughout. Printed letterpress, using handset type. A pseudonomously published work apparently based on the text of the Lemegeton or Lesser Key of Solomon, a Medieval Grimoire - the oldest copies of which apparently date from the thirteenth century. According to the introduction "the text here presented is a free rendering ... the essentials have been retained while the exhortations and redundancies eliminated. It parallels The Great Key of Solomon, but is superior to it in that it enumerates the spirits with whom the magician would have commerce. .." It is liberally illustrated with sigils, talismanic seals, etc. Although not identified as such, it is generally thought to have been published by Daniel J. Driscoll who later founded Heptangle Books (if the date on the title-page is correct, this would have been his first publication). Heptangle was arguably the pioneers of modern fine-press occult publishing in the United States. Points of boards a little bruised, page edges a bit darkened - otherwise a tight, clean near-Fine copy. (no dustjacket - none issued). Scarce. Item #69507
