Original quarter leather - black patterned leatherette (?) spine and corners over grey cloth boards with gilt titling to upper board. The extremely unusual half-leather deluxe issue of the Aeon Sophia press edition of this magnificent work. The number bound thus is not known, but it must have been tiny, as copies rarely appear on the market, and the "ordinary" full-cloth edition which is itself scarce was limited to a total of 200 copies. "Compendium rarissimum totius Artis Magicae sistematisatae per celeberrimos Artis hujus Magistro" ("A rare summary of the entire Magical Art by the most famous Masters of this Art") reproduces in full colour the superb eighteenth century manuscript of that title held in the collection of the Wellcome Library (MS.1766) in London. The manuscript is written in German and Latin, and is famous for its 31 coloured depiction of demons. It also includes three pages of magical and cabbalistic signs and sigils, and an ornamental title page with skulls, sigils, etc. and was written on various coloured papers. This is a photographic reproduction. A small darker spot to the back cover (probably just a flaw in the colouring of the cloth) otherwise AS NEW and in Fine condition. (no dust jacket as issued).
