Moon Magic. Being the Memoirs of a Mistress of That Art.

London: The Aquarian Press, 1956. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 241pp. Original navy blue cloth with gilt title to spine. The first edition, posthumously published, of this novel, the manuscript of which was found amongst Dion Fortune's papers at the time of her death. Although complete in itself, "Moon Magic" shares a central character with Fortune's earlier "The Sea Priestess," and is arguably it's sequel. Boards a little splayed, some light marks to covers, page edges a bit darkened, uneven browning to endpapers, "Wehman Brothers" distributor's stamp and very faint crease across the title page (the latter clearly a printer's / paper flaw). The first and last half-dozen leaves have some modest foxing, mostly in the upper margins, otherwise a few tiny spots here and there. Otherwise a tight, unmarked G+ copy in G+ dust jacket. (The jacket doesn't actually present too badly at all in its new protective mylar sleeve, but it has overall wear, edges chafed and chipped especially at spine ends, splitting at folds, old tape repair to reverse, etc. etc. It has also been price clipped with prejudice). Still a solid, pleasant copy of an increasingly uncommon first edition. Item #69564
