Los Angeles, CA: The Theosophy Company, 1931. Centenary Anniversary Edition. Hardcover. Large thick octavo. Two volumes in one, complete. xlvi + 628pp. & iv + 708pp. Original red cloth, gilt title and illustration to spine, frontis of Madame Blavatsky, fold-outs, supplemental index. The first printing of the Centenary Anniversary Edition of "Isis Unveiled " - released to mark the centenary of Blavatsky's birth. The book was the first time that exact fascsimiles of the two volumes of the original 1877 edition were reproduced in a single volume.. "Isis Unveiled" was Blavatsky's first major publication, it not only became one of the foundation stones of Theosophy, but was highly influential on the Western esoteric and magical traditions in general, with Aleister Crowley even going so far as to identify her as a fellow Master of the Temple in one essay. A nice one volume edition. Cloth a bit darkened and rubbed at spine, bruising and chafing to extremities, page edges darkened, paper a bit toned. Previous owner's name stamped on both pastedowns. Light crease across frontispiece. One leaf has a discoloured patch where someone spilled some water - but they evidently mopped it up immediately, as it has left just a modest, pale "tide-mark" that only effects two pages. About half-a-dozen pages have some ink underlining. Still a solid, VG copy of an uncommon edition of this important work (no dust jacket - believe none issued). Large and heavy book will require additional shipping to some local and all international destinations. Item #69589
