A New Encyclopaedia of Freemasonry (Ars Magna Latomorum) and of Cognate Instituted Mysteries: Their Rites, Literature and History ( Combined Edition, Two Volumes in One - A New Encyclopedia of Freemasonry ).

New York, NY: Weathervane Books, 1970. Reprint. Hardcover. Thick Royal octavo. 948pp. Glossy navy boards lettered in gilt on spine. B/w frontis. & illustrations. A one volume edition of this important reference by Waite in which he provides a comprehensive look at the history of Freemasonry, as well as it's literature, mythology, rituals and symbolism. Although the work attracted some hostility from within the Masonic movement, Waite's 'New Encyclopaedia' proved to be very popular, and was the most successful of his books in Waite's own lifetime. Gilbert A31(c). Heavy bump to lower spine, although oddly this is completely hidden by the dust jacket and doesn't affect the internals of the book at all. Owner's name on front free endpaper, page edges darkened and pages quite heavily toned. A, a solid clean VG copy. Except for the bump it would rate as a VG copy, as is, still a G reference copy in VG dust jacket. (Dust jacket a little rubbed and discoloured. Now in protective mylar sleeve). Item #69651
