The Early History and Antiquities of Freemasonry, as connected with ancient Norse Guilds, and the Oriental and Medieval Building Fraternities.

Philadelphia, PA: Robert H. Ball, 1877. Third Edition, revised. Hardcover. Large octavo. 500pp. Original royal blue cloth lettered in gilt on spine, gilt Masonic device on front board. B/w frontis. Index. George Franklin Fort (1809 – 1872) was a physician, judge, and politician who served as the 16th Governor of New Jersey from 1851 to 1854. Fort was a long time Freemason and this volume was compiled over many years and first published posthumously in 1875. As close to Fine as it would be possible to find in a book of this vintage. Merest hint of fading to spine, tiny amount of shelf-rubbing to boards, minor cracking at end-paper hinge. Looks and feels as if it has barely been opened, let alone read. A truly splendid copy of a book that is scarce in any early edition. Item #69670
