Item #69673 The Book of Rosicruciæ [ The Book of Rosicruciae ] 3 Volumes. R. Swinburne CLYMER.

The Book of Rosicruciæ [ The Book of Rosicruciae ] 3 Volumes.

Quakertown, PA: Philosophical Publishing Co. "Beverly Hall Corp." ND [ Copyright 1946, 1947 and 1949 ]. First Editions (?). Hardcover. Large octavos. Three volumes. xxviii + 288pp & xxxii + 280pp & xxxii + 288pp. Original green cloth with gilt titles and authors to spines, gilt Rosy Cross design on upper boards, frontisportrait with tissue guard (Vol. I), decorated title pages with tissue guards. "A Condensed History of the "Fraternitas Rosæ Crucis" or "Rosy Cross", the men who made the Order Possible, and those who Maintained the Fraternity Throughout the Centuries, Together with the Fundamental Teachings of these men According to the Actual Records in the Archives of the Fraternity." The author, R. Swinburne Clymer (1878 - 1966) enrolled as a Neophyte in the Temple of The Rosy Cross and Imperial Eulis in 1897, and rose through the ranks, succeeding Edward H. Brown as Supreme Grand Master of Fraternitas Rosae Crucis in 1922. He is well known as a prolific author and publisher of Rosicrucian works. Many of the titles which he published under his Philosophical Publishing Company imprint only list Copyright dates, without indicating the actual date of publication or edition of the particular volume. Given the binding style etc. of these volumes we believe them to be first editions, but cannot say so with absolute certainty. This is an unused set which came to us with a number of other sets that were still in the original publisher's shrink-wrap, and several sets which have been opened. We have left the shrink-wrap in place on this set so cannot say its copyright dates certainty, however, the other sets in the same group from which the shrink-wrap had been removed had the copyright dates 1946, 1947 and 1949 respectively, and we have no reason to suspect this set would be any different. Being unopened and still in their original shrink-wrap these are basically NEW and thus a tight, clean about Fine set. (no dust jackets as issued). Note what looks like discoloration in the photograph is just reflection from the plastic wrapping. A heavy 3 volume set - will require additional shipping to most destinations. Item #69673
