A serious exploration of the life of Count Alessandro di Cagliostro (1743 – 1795) the adventurer, Freemason and purveyor of the occult arts, who for a time was a favorite of the European courts, becoming famous for his abilities as a healer, scryer, magician, and, reputedly, alchemist. Francois Dumas is an historian of magic and this book is the "fruit of long years of research among many important and unpublished documents." Corners lightly bruised, page edges slightly darkened, pages quite browned (as always with this edition), NYC Weiser book shop sticker on front pastedown.
