Item #69765 Moonchild. Aleister CROWLEY.
Moonchild.

Moonchild.

New York: Avon Books, 1971. First Avon Books Edition. Softcover. Small octavo. 320pp. Pocket-sized paperback. Crowley's famous second novel which tells the tale of a young woman caught up in a battle between two magicians, one of whom seeks to use her body as the vessel for the 'birth' in human form of a non-human entity: "the Moonchild" of the title. The character of "Cyril Grey" is a somewhat idealised self-portrait of Crowley, as is perhaps also that of "Simon Iff." The first printing of this Avon Books edition. From the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Covers chafed and lightly creased with a finger-nail size abrasion on the front cover where a price sticker has been carelessly removed. Large old paperback exchange rubber stamp imprints on inside front cover and half-title page. A solid near VG copy. Item #69765
