Item #69778 Magick Without Tears. Aleister CROWLEY, Israel Regardie.

Magick Without Tears.

St. Paul, MN: Llewellyn Publications, 1973. First Edition thus. Hardcover. Large Octavo. xxxvi+ 522pp. Original publisher's blue cloth with gilt title, etc. to spine, 4 full-page illustrations, index. Crowley had originally intended to entitle this book "Aleister Explains Everything" - it is in essence his personal commentary on his own magical work and training - in the form of 80 letters addressed to students. It is without doubt one of his most straightforward and lucid expositions of Magick. It was first published by Crowley's follower, Karl Germer, in an edition that almost certainly did not exceed 100 copies. This is the first printing of the new edition published by Llewellyn and includes Germer's original foreword, and a new Introduction by Israel Regardie, who also edited the text, removing some material he felt to be redundant. Stated First Llewellyn Edition. It was first published in this edition in June 1973, and was so well received that a second printing was released in November of the same year. A modest vertical crease to spine, with corresponding light separation of text block. Page edges somewhat thumbed and darkened, owner's extensive and rather untidy notes on the front free endpaper and on both the rear free endpaper and pastedown. Pages lightly toned, otherwise a solid and mostly clean G+ copy in VG + very light shelf worn dust jacket. (Dust jacket has just a hint of rubbing at edges, price clipped. Now protected by a removable mylar sleeve). Item #69778
