The 1971 revised "gold foil dust jacket" edition of Symond's biography of Crowley. This copy SIGNED by SYMONDS on the title-page. This revised edition of "The Great Beast" was published twenty years after the first edition and reflected the changed times, with the blurb on the dust jacket noting: "The author is now able to go into far greater detail about Crowley's use of sex and drugs than was possible before." It also included additional material that was originally published separately in the author's "The Magic of Aleister Crowley." From the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Bottom corners of boards and base of spine lightly bruised, edges of text block a little dusty, otherwise a tight, clean VG+ copy in a near-VG example of the thin gold-foil dust jacket. As often the dust jacket is quite creased - particularly on the turnovers/flaps and at the edges - and has some modest chipping, mostly to the had and tail of spine.
