Frontispiece with images of Blake's life-mask, with protective tissue guard, 12 b&w plates reproducing artwork, manuscript leaves, etc. A biographical study of Blake by Edwin John Ellis (1848–1916) a British poet, illustrator, and Blake aficionado who is now best known for the massive three-volume collection "The Works of William Blake. Poetic, Symbolic, and Critical" (1893) which he edited with W. B. Yeats. Corners lightly bruised, hint of rubbing to the head and tail of spine, minimal shelf wear. Neat, old (contemporary?) previous owner's signature on front free-endpaper, pages evenly tanned. Overall a tight, clean, VG+ copy (no dust-jacket, presume none issued). Item #69869
