A study of the mystical aspects of Masonry and Masonic Initiation from a Rosicrucian perspective. The author, R. Swinburne Clymer (1878 - 1966) enrolled as a Neophyte in the Temple of The Rosy Cross and Imperial Eulis in 1897, and rose through the ranks, succeeding Edward H. Brown as Supreme Grand Master of Fraternitas Rosae Crucis in 1922. He is well known as a prolific author and publisher of Rosicrucian works. This, like many of the titles which he published under his Philosophical Publishing Company imprint, gives only the Copyright date (in this case 1924), without indicating the actual date of publication or edition of the particular volume. Given the binding style etc. of this particular volume we believe it to be a first edition, but cannot say so with absolute certainty. The book itself is a heavily revised version of a work originally published under the title "Ancient Mystic Oriental Masonry." Corners of boards lightly bruised and a little frayed, head and tail of spine quite rubbed and a quarter inch closed tear to cloth at bottom of spine. Rear board heavily mottled, and a few splotches on front board, spine lettering faded. Pages evenly toned, but otherwise internally bright, tight and clean. A solid G+ copy. Item #69889
