Transcendental Magic.

New York NY: Samuel Weiser, Inc., 1979. Fifth Printing. Softcover. Octavo. xxxiv + 438pp. Red card covers with black image of the "Great Symbol of Solomon" on front cover, b&w frontis of Levi and b&w illustrations, index. A. E. Waite's translation of Levi's "Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie," one of the foundation works of modern occultism. The book is divided into two main sections the first of which examines the "kabalistic and magical doctrine in its entirety" whilst the second is devoted largely to the practice of ceremonial magic. Aleister Crowley held the book in high esteem, and in the list of recommended books for Probationers in his A.'.A.'. published in 'Book Four Part 1' - described it as a book that they "must possess." A copy that has been read but still - well kept. Light overall shelf wear, a few sharp creases on spine and adjacent cover edges, all extremities chafed, page edges unevenly browned, tea stain (?) with resulting faint tide mark to bottom edge of text block, just showing on the bottom margin of a number of pages. Pages otherwise lighty toned. Overall a tight and clean VG copy of this unusual reprint of the Weiser edition. Item #69936
