Originally published in Paris in 1892, this is a facsimile of the first English language edition (1894) with a new foreword by Richard Cavendish. A study of religious symbolism, "the curious complexity of the phenomena, the mutual influence of the different civilizations that exchange their beliefs and their symbols, giving each of them an original interpretation." Slight crease to cloth across top of spine, slipcase bumped at top corner, previous owner's circular blind stamp on front free endpaper. Still a tight, clean VG+ copy in VG+ slipcase.
