The Secret Rituals of the O.T.O. [ OTO ].

London: The C. W. Daniel Co., 1973. First UK edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 240pp. Original brown pressed board covers with gilt lettering on spine, purple endpapers. Frontisportrait of Crowley. The controversial first publication of the "secret rituals" of the Ordo Templi Orientis, of which Aleister Crowley was one-time head, edited and introduced by Francis King. The book is in 3 parts: Part 1: "The Birth and Development of the O.T.O.", Part 2: "The Rituals Themselves", Part 3: "The Secret Instructions of the Seventh, Eighth & Ninth Degrees". Loosely inserted are four pages of related photocopies: a two page typescript headed "Corrections to King's Rip-Off of O.T.O. Documents" which comprises a list of approximately 30 corrections to the text of the book that were made by comparing it to the original typescripts / manuscripts in the Yorke collection. The list was apparently made by a member of the S.O.T.O. in the 1970s. There is also a two page photocopied "Appendix 2 an addition by Loki 1996" which presents further commentary and corrections to the text. The book has some very light bruising to the corners and spine ends, otherwise a tight, unmarked VG+ copy in mylar protected VG+ dust jacket. (Dust jacket has just a hint of shelf rubbing at the edges, a little mottling and darkening at the edges of the turn-overs, not price clipped). A very nice copy, especially nice with the added ephemera. Item #70198
