York Beach, ME: Samuel Weiser Inc., 1998. First Edition Thus. Hardcovers. Thick Quartos. 2 Volumes, each containing over 2000 pages. Original white cloth, with gilt title, etc. to spine and front cover, gilt rules on spine and covers, color frontispiece, and color plates & b&w illustrations. Both volumes housed in a flimsy printed card slip-case, as well as in the original printed cardboard shipping container. This two volume facsimile edition contains the complete, text, illustrations, etc. of the ten volumes which make up the first series (or 'volume') of "The Equinox", which was originally published biannually between 1909 & 1913. Crowley was the editor and principal author of most of the volumes of "The Equinox", which contained a variety of poetry, fiction, and reviews - generally with esoteric themes - alongside a number of articles of occult instruction. This new edition includes an Introduction by Israel Regardie and the first ever publication of Crowley's "Notes and Corrections" - taken from his own set of the First Edition in the Yorke collection, as an appendix at the rear. It also includes a new Introduction, and biographical Notes on Contributors, by Frater Veritas Vincit (Frater Superior of the O.T.O., Hymenaeus Beta). Both volumes are bright and clean internally and appear to have never been read. Covers have some light shelfwear though the cloth on the spines of both volumes is rippled - as was often the case even when new. Thus a tight, clean VG+ set in the original (flimsy) cardboard slipcase which has a number of tape repairs. Still housed in the original cardboard shipping box - which is in VG+ condition (no dustjackets - none issued). Large heavy set - shipping at cost to all destinations. OUT OF PRINT and scarce.
