NP [ Nashville TN ]: Society Ordo Templi Orientis International / S.O.T.O., 1983, 1984. First Editions Thus. Softcover. Large thick octavos. Two volumes. xxiv + 620pp (+ ivpp adverts) & xxiv + 620 pp (+ 4 pp adverts). Original glossy white printed wrappers lettered in orange (Part I) and bright orange (Part 2). In contrast to the abridged version edited by Israel Regardie, this edition of "Magick Without Tears" includes the complete text as published by Karl Germer with new additional text by Motta. Part One comprises an Editorial by Motta, followed by the Foreword and letters A - I & 1 - 42 of "Magick Without Tears" with Motta's comments and notes throughout. There follows Motta's highly tendentious "Intelligence Services are not Intelligent: The O.T.O. since Crowley's Death" (approx 45 pages); a selection of typically acerbic Reviews (12 pages); and the scurrilous "O.T.O. News" (4 pages) - which served largely as a vessel for attacks on those with whom he had fallen out. The volume closes with an extensive (100 page) "Reference Index" and a few pages of advertisements for other works by Motta. Part Two comprises another Editorial by Motta, followed by letters 43 - 83 of "Magick Without Tears" with Motta's comments and notes, Part Two of Motta's "Intelligence Services are not Intelligent: The O.T.O. since Crowley's Death" (63 pages); a selection of Reviews (22 pages); and yet more of his vituperative "O.T.O. News" (29 pages). The volume closes with an extensive (100 page) "Reference Index," 8 pages of illustrations and documents, and a few pages of advertisements for other works by Motta. Both volumes have been "well-read" and show signs of aging and use. Covers a bit darkened and lightly creased, edges of text blocks darkened and thumbed, spines darkened and spine of Part II is creased, remains of price sticker on inside cover of No. 4, otherwise both are internally clean and unmarked. Overall an about VG example of this scarce set. A large heavy set that due to its weight will require additional shipping charges to the amount automatically quoted, the exact cost varying according to destination. Item #70233
