Thick small Quarto. 960pp. Original black cloth with gilt lettering (somewhat dulled) on spine; front board has the Crowley self-portrait design (also used as the frontispiece) stamped on the upper cover purple, b&w plates. Index. This copy includes the original 6 1/4" x 4 1/4" postcard announcing the publication of this American edition, reproduces five black & white photographic portraits of Crowley, within purple borders (matching the dust jacket design and stamping on the front board). Crowley originally intended that his "Confessions" would be published in six volumes, but only two of these had been published before the Great Depression and various internal disputes led to the demise of the publishers. The project languished uncompleted throughout Crowley's lifetime, and it was not until 1969 that the somewhat abridged version of the full six volumes was published in a single volume edition, edited by John Symonds and Kenneth Grant. Covers lightly rubbed and a bit dusty, spine ends and corners lightly bumped, red lettering to spine heavily rubbed, pages edges darkened and thumbed, and pages a bit toned, owners address label on front pastedown but text clean and unmarked. Overall a VG copy in near VG dust jacket, (Dust jacket is a bit rubbed overall, and all edges chafed and lightly chipped - several larger chips (1/2 ") at upper edge of front panel and spine, few ;not price cli.
