Item #70305 The Tarot of the Magi. Carlyle PUSHONG, Dr. Doug Baker.
The Tarot of the Magi.

The Tarot of the Magi.

London: Regency Press, 1970. Third Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 108 + (iv)pp. Blue paper covered boards lettered with pentragam designo on front board and . B/w frontis. portrait. Bibliography. First published in 1967, this study of the tarot, with particular reference to the major arcana must have been quite popuar as it reached this, its third edition (presumably actually "printing") only three years later. The author believes that the tarot "should stand or fall on its own merit" and seeks to examine it from this perspective. While he admits that there is a relationship between tarot and Kabbalah, he argues that if anything there is a stronger correlation with Sankara's Vedanta, and in light of this has added an Appendix on Sankara's doctrine of Maya. A few small blemishes to boards, previous owner's book-plate on front pastedown, page-edges age-toned, otherwise a tight, clean VG+ copy in near-VG dust jacket (dust jacket quite heavily rubbed - as is common with this title - and with some small chips and tears to the edges. Not price-clipped, now protected by removable mylar sleeve). Item #70305
