The Philosophy of Numbers. Their Tone and Colors.
Atlantic City, NJ & London: Published by the author. Printed by L. N. Fowler & Co., ND ( circa 1928 ). Eighth Edition. Hardcover. Large octavo. 188 pp. Original brown cloth with black titling to upper board and spine. Original marbled-pattern endpapers. An unusual and curious book written by L. Dow Balliett aka Sarah Joanna Balliett (1847-1929). In it the author claims Pythagorean influence when she connects certain numbers, linked with individuals and objects, to certain colors, and suggests that the correct alignment between them will be beneficial. Includes a list of the States of the USA and their respective numbers. Spine ends very lightly bruised, corners of boards have a tiny amount of rubbing, merest hint of general shelf-wear. Private library bookplate on front endpaper. Overall a sound and bright near-fine copy without dust jacket (uncertain if one was issued). Item #70309
