A biography of Jetsun Milarepa (Rje-btsun Mi-la ras-pa - c. 1052—1135), student of Marpa (Marpa the Translator) and one of the most famous Tibetan yogis and poets, renowned for his literary works: the "Songs of Milarepa" and his role in the history of the Bka'-brgyud school of Tibetan Buddhism. The translation is by Kazi Dawa Samdup (Kazi zla-ba bsam-'grub, 1868-1922) who also supplied translations for Alexandra David-Neel and Sir John Woodroffe. Covers somewhat leaned, cloth a little rubbed at edges and folds and with general modest signs of shelf-wear, edges of text-block quite darkened, pages toned, faint smoky odour. Overall a solid, unmarked, VG or better copy in very shabby dust jacket (Dust jacket is rubbed and darkened - more so at spine and folds - lacking significant chips from head and tail of spine, and with other small chips and tears to edges and folds, not clipped. Tears and weak-spots reinforced on blank inside with acid-free tape. Now in protective mylar sleeve.). Item #70339
