Adonis Attis Osiris. Studies in the History of Oriental Religions. [ Two volumes in one book ]; ( Previously part IV of the "The Golden Bough, A Study of Magic and Religion )

New Hyde Park, NY: University Books, 1961. Reprint of Third Edition, Revised & enlarged. Hardcover. Large octavo, xxviii + 318pp & 322pp [ 4pp adverts at rear ]. Bound in two tone cloth: spines beige over deep red boards, gilt titling etc. to red panel on spine, top edge black, b&w illustrations, red endpages, index. "Adonis Attis Osiris, Studies in the History of Oriental Religions" was originally published as Part IV of Fraser's well known: "The Golden Bough, A Study in Magic and Religion", his monumental and relevant work on Folklore and Mythology, and deals in specific with festivals, and rites of harvest, death, and rebirth in which he saw the origins of religions. Oddly the dust jacket misspells the great author's name ("Fraser" instead of "Frazer"). Light bruising and chafing to spine ends and corners, fore-edge browned, pages lightly toned but clean and unmarked. Overall a VG+ copy in Good+ dust jacket. (Dust jacket lightly rubbed and worn, edges chafed with some creasing and light chipping, price clipped. Now protected by removable mylar sleeve). Item #70376
