The Necronomicon.

New York: Schlangekraft Inc. / Barnes Graphics, 1981. Third Edition, Revised. Hardcover. Quarto. lviii + 222pp. Original black grained (faux?) leather, ornately lettered & decorated with silver title on spine & title and decorations on front cover. All edges silver. Black and white diagrams. The Third Edition (revised) of the Simon "Necronomicon." The three individuals responsible for the work were: 'Simon' who "provided the manuscript " (but is now known to be its author, generally identified as Peter Levenda); Lawrence K. Barnes, who illustrated and acted as publisher, and James Wasserman, who produced and designed the book . All three are mentioned at some length in the Preface. This copy has the "limitation page" bound in before the title-page, stating that the edition was limited to 3,333 numbered copies, with this being copy number 003286 (some copies of this edition were issued without the limitation page). Some fain flecking to the top-edge of the text-block, and a little to the fore-edge. There are a number of small chips and rubs to the edges, which appear to have been neatly tinted black so that they do not stand out. A hint of toning to the endpapers, otherwise a tight, clean, VG+ copy of a very handsome edition. (No dustjacket, none issued). A moderately large volume that may require additional shipping to the amount automatically quoted, the cost varying according to destination. Item #70399
